Just watch a 60-minute segment on teenage Afghan boys smuggling - TopicsExpress

Just watch a 60-minute segment on teenage Afghan boys smuggling out of the country. They traveled a tough route through Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Greece, into Europe. They have zero future in their home country, and their families sold their land to pay the smugglers just for a remote hope to give their children a chance for a better future, except that the road they have to travel is a tough and painful one. Many were abused by the smugglers. Many more were deported and sent back. Almost everyone has been beaten up badly. They might be hidden in a box or even refrigerator. Some even died in the journey. Even those who get to Europe struggled, and a lot ended up at a detention center anyway. I have two thoughts: 1) every teenage boy in the U.S. or H.K. who ever thinks he is unfortunate might want to watch this and realize how blessed he is (身在福中不知福, 等於無福); 2) what the hell is the U.S. spending billions and billions of taxpayer money to make life so miserable there that those people would still rather give up everything they have - include potentially their life - just to get away from that country? And President Obama is the recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize?!?
