Just watched a great presentation on the eBike industry, with panelists from Europe and the US. The market is growing very quickly, but the european marketplace is 10-15 times (likely more due to poor stats) than the US market. Demographics are quickly changing with the advent of increasing technology. Average age of the user is dropping. Talked a lot about price-points, technology, margins and potential conflicts with the off-road bikes which are increasing in popularity. This is the biggest growth sector (internally). Land managers and states need to figure out if they can be allowed on federal land single-track trails. Lots to think about. We are seeing more and more interest from IBDs (via our insurance program) in selling these. I found it really interesting that Bosch has entered the marketplace. In Europe, auto MFGs like BMW have also entered the market space. What does this tell us? They want another way to hit their potential car-buyer prospects with a market presence.
