Just watching a conservative MP claiming that its fine that prince - TopicsExpress

Just watching a conservative MP claiming that its fine that prince Charless communications with government ministers are kept secret because its just the same as constituents communications with their MPs being confidential. Clearly this isnt the case. Im a republican so I dont think someone should wield huge influence on public policy just because theyre born or married into a certain family. For me this is the absolute epitome of unfairness. I accept that most British people seem to like the monarchy though but I think that this is partly because the wielding of power they indulge in is kept secret. Tax affairs - secret. Conversations with government ministers, secret. The queen, prince Charles, Prince William and anyone acting on their behalf all enjoy exemption from the freedom of information act. If prince Charles wants to write to his local MP because hes got a problem with his council tax or is having difficulty getting an appointment with his GP then fine, that should be confidential. If he uses his position to gain direct access to a minister of state to discuss government policy with them we should know. Same as if Rupert Murdoch, Bernie Ecclestone or any number of privileged people dine, bribe (sorry, donate to) or threaten members of the government. The government supposedly represent us. We should all be represented equally but seeing as were clearly not we should at least get to see whos getting a bit of extra representation. Whos a bit more equal than the rest of us. It might help us make up our minds who to vote for next time.
