Just when it seemed that it could hardly be clearer or more obvious that animals - of just about every variety - are very much like us in some of the most important ways, particularly in that they too crave and seek out friendship, affection, and love - these elephant seals just seem to want to put a bit finer a point on that idea. Seeing this, I cannot help but wonder how can anyone possibly say that animals dont have feelings and emotions very similar to our own in many fundamental ways? That is why I do not eat, wear, or use any animals or products made from them. Thank goodness, that by abstaining from partaking of any products of the exploitation of animals, I do not have to sacrifice anything at all - not fashion, not warmth or comfort, not flavor, not variety, not health or nutrition - not even my desire to preserve the environment and the miraculously delicate and intricate web of eco-systems which sustain and nurture our planet so as to leave a viable and valuable legacy for future generations of all species. I cannot think of a single reason why anyone should have to suffer or die for my pleasure.
