Just wrapped up listening to this edition of Fighting for the Faith today. Im telling you- if you have friends and family attending LCBC, you need to yank them out of there! What they teach is a view of Christianity that revolves around the individual audience member and what happens to him/her in this life. They cater therapeutic solutions to their audiences first-world problems with a self-obsessed approach to the Scriptures that could hardly twist Gods word up worse while maintaining some semblance of truth. The importance of doctrine is downplayed. The good news is that you can live a more fulfilling life, if only you will follow certain guidelines for living it. So of course you will hear Pastor David Ashcraft twisting a text that teaches the all-importance of simple faith and dedication to the doctrines of Christ over and above works and turning it into a practical message about how to simplify your life. Only to then act as if it is the clear teaching of that text that we simply need to get alone in order to talk and hear from Jesus in the thin air as the solution- when the text doesnt even allude to such an idea. Pushing special revelation again- in other words. I especially love the thinly veiled subliminal pleas for people to just sit there and take things in rather than being expressive of problems, or for people to understand how hard it is to be a spiritual leader :( what its like to have haters on your back because youre doing an atrocious job of shepherding people by leading them into error.... What a mess....I really wish I could say I lived nowhere near it. And I know their influence is likely to expand. Educate yourself and get the word out! #Simplifyyourlife #1137steps #LCBC fightingforthefaith/2015/01/perry-nobles-two-apologies.html
