Justin Martyr, who was indeed a martyr, was not the first person to defend Christianity with his life, but his are the earliest writings defending our faith to survive to the present day. Justin grew up a heathen and studied in the various philosophical schools of his day. Yet with all his study he could find no satisfaction for his soul; that is until he found Christianity. And his soul found its rest in Christ. He would spend the rest of his life fearlessly defending his fellow Christians before rulers and despots, any of which could condemn him, as well as those he was defending, to death. He exposed the failures of every philosophical system of his day for what they were, superstitions and lies. Is your soul searching for rest that will last for eternity?
