Justin Trudeaus Endorsement of Republican candidates Ted Cruz or other GOP candidates for POTUS: The Keystone XL Pipeline Project Kerfuffle for Liberal Party quote: Over the past few months, Justin Trudeau has been touting his support for Keystone XL pipeline. He’s gone as far as to travel to the United States to spread the Liberal Party’s support for the pipeline. Even though American president Barack Obama has already said that he does not support the Keystone XL pipeline, this has not prevented Trudeau from continuing to support an issue which is currently dead in the United States. Of course the Liberal and Conservative Party’s view on the Keystone XL pipeline are very similar. Both are looking to expand the pipeline and have made it a central part of their party’s policies. Therefore, it is clear where these two parties stand. Conversely, the NDP has strongly been opposed to the pipeline. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that any Democratic Party presidential candidate in 2016 would support a Keystone XL pipeline through the United States. So what does this mean for Justin Trudeau? This means he would need the help of a Republican president in 2017. Therefore, it is in Trudeau’s best interest to support Ted Cruz, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, or whatever Republican is nominated to take on the Democratic Party candidate. So, there you have it! In order for Justin Trudeau to fulfill his Keystone XL pipeline dream, he needs the support of a Republican president. How else can Justin Trudeau possibly support the expansion of the pipeline yet, at the same time, state that he would support a Democratic Party candidate for president? It is absolutely impossible for Trudeau to do that. In the end, Justin Trudeau has no choice but to support Republican candidates. This is an issue where the NDP can take control. Connecting any Canadian politician to any American Republican never helps. This is especially the case if that Canadian politician is a member of the Liberal Party, a party which is not considered compatible with the American right-wing political machine. True, it might not hurt a Tory number or Prime Minister Stephen Harper, but it definitely would not help a Liberal Party member. So if Justin Trudeau wants his pipeline, he might have to sacrifice the Canadian economy by supporting the Republican Party. Is this what Canadians want? Instead of talking about the environmental hazards, the NDP has to structure this debate in a clever way that makes people think twice about supporting Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party. Just saying that you are against the pipeline for environmental reasons will not necessarily help the NPD. Everyone assumes that the NDP already opposes the pipeline for precisely this reason. Therefore, this does not bring anything new to the debate. But connecting Trudeau to the Republican Party in the United States could be a “hold on, wait a minute” moment for voters. unquote americanloonie.wordpress/2013/12/03/justin-trudeau-endorses-ted-cruz-the-keystone-kerfuffle-for-the-liberal-party/
