K1 Weekly Update: It’s Color and Shape Week! In P.E. we’ll be playing follow the leader with a discovery color walk and then bean bag match game to learn as we play. The week continues with the students making their own kaleidoscopes (parents please bring in empty toilet roll containers by Thursday for the project) and modeling clay to make shapes using fine motor skills and hands on exploration. Throughout the semester, we’re introducing new songs as well as keeping our class favorites and incorporating the theme in our song selection. After teaching the daily English lesson, I have a 5 minute Little Flyer videos (a different one each day) to reinforce ABC’s , numbers and shapes so instead of just hearing, they can visualize the concept in an entertaining way. To end English class we have coloring and painting themed worksheets where they revisit the letter D, colors, number four and shapes. To start and end the week we revisit vocab from the previous and current week and have had success with their achievement. With some of the language and weekly objectives I’ve been adding in some of K2’s curriculum and found that the class is able to follow. I’m really proud of them and they are learning so quickly!
