KANYE: POLICE APPREHEND RETAILER, EXPRESS CONCERN ABOUT RAPE INCIDENTS Kanye police have arrested a Chinese retailer after he was found selling t-shirts engraved with both Pep-Stores codes and labels. The police confiscated a total of 30 such t-shirts worth P500 from the suspect. Superintendent Kealositse Konyana said in an interview on June 10 that upon questioning the suspect, aged 51, the latter disclosed that he got the supply from Gaborone. He said upon probing the matter, it came out that identical clothing bearing the same codes were indeed found at Pep-Stores. If found guilty of theft, the suspect could be liable to imprisonment not exceeding three years or a period not exceeding seven years if found to be cheating. “The suspect if found to be on the wrong side of the law may also be charged with a fine proportionate to the value of the items.” Meanwhile, Superintendent Konyana decried heightening cases of rape in his area of operation. He said since January 2014 to date, a total of 18 rape cases had been reported to his office. The incidents, he said, happened during the night when unsuspecting victims will be going to their homes from the night club. “We advise revelers especially women to wise up and make sure that they solicit company whenever they leave the club or any other spot during the night lest they get pounced upon by prowling men who might put their lives in danger,” he said. In addition, Superintendent Konyana advised merrymakers in particular women to make sure that they drink moderately to curb incidents where victims of rape are too drunk to identify suspected rapists.
