KEDARNATH PILGRIMAGE RESUMES Today is October 1st 2013- Today the Kedarnath pilgrimage resumes after a period of 3 months, 3months since the unprecedented flash floods (a reminiscent of THE GREAT DELUGE in all the HOLY SCRIPTURES) that affected Uttarakhand in India. The temple town is limping back to Normalcy. During this crisis the INDIAN SECURITY FORCES proved their mettle by taking part in the largest ever NON-COMBAT operation;for many of the survivors the INDIAN ARMY men were GODS IN UNIFORM. Many NGO’s also lent a helping hand too. The kedarnath pilgrimage is a PILGRIM’S PROGRESS-it is a journey of faith. Despite an environmental tragedy of such a great magnitude, the intact temple of Lord Shiva in Kedarnath stands as a testimony of unswerving faith; it is a source of resilience to many believers of the Hindu faith and an engineering marvel to many; an engineering marvel that has stood the test of time. Kedarnath is the place where the 9th century Poet-Saint of India- Sri Sankaracharya, believed by many to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva, left his mortal coil at the age of 32, after reinstating the glory of Hinduism, through his peregrinations, scholarly discussions and erudite compositions. His life journey started in Karadi (Kerala) and ended in Kedarnath.He also established four monastries in four corners of INDIA and an unbroken succession of Guru-Sishya(disciple) lineage. Coincidentally, The Kedarnath Shrine opened for Prayers on 9/11/2013(the date on which Swami Vivekananda delivered his world famous speech in the world parliament of religions) The National Geographic channel has also aired a programme titled TRAPPED IN KEDARNATH on September 13th 2013.
