KING IN THE NORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would like to start by thanking all that came to the shop for the tourney. We had a decent turnout. 11 of the AGOT vets and a young stark pup Eddie showed up to play the game of thrones. Its my 2nd tourney win and a pretty good recovery from my devastating loss during the store championships. I had to try and bring honor back to the greatest house and its most good looking members Richard Cunanan Enrique Naguiat Angelo Esperanzate. :) Deck used. Stark the north remembers deck tm I came up with this concept weeks before the store championships, but didnt really give it any thought since it seemed to be missing components and looked more like a fun deck. Hours after I was eliminated during the championships (falling to Mikko Abola targ burn and a mirror match vs a fellow stark seige deck)...I had a conversation with edu about deck builds and mentioned wanting to build this deck. Edu Ibazeta (being my old deck building partner in LOTR TCG) and I put our heads together and pieced this awesome build from the ground up. The deck is pure synergy using killer Robb and River plots to fish out my extensive array of locations and other key components. We added the initial pieces to the build and began the grueling process of play testing. Joscar Malacaman helped me realize another key component...One that makes the deck even more lethal. Kiko Aquino helped me come to terms with the fact that I have a control deck and should play it like one (solidifying river plots a place in my deck) 1st round. Andre. brought out his Greyjoy old ways river plot deck. These decks I am very familiar with from constant play against edu and brian. We had a back and forth for awhile, but the Northland keeps kept the bane at bay and Robb kept the board state clear. 2nd round. Brian. No surprise what this guy would play. He switched from his usual greyjoy choke to an old ways river plot deck. 1st two matches and had these iron born all over my grill. Ugh. This match was stretched to about 7 plots and the control again came from controlling the bane via an awesomely timed frozen solid. 3rd round. Kiko. Kiki and I were both 2 and 0 at the time. Weve played extensively and hes got a pretty kick ass lannister deck. At this point...my fellow stark rich graced our table and with pride on the line (Starks do hate the lannys after all) i mustered what i could to win the longest match Ive ever played using this deck. We went 8 plots deep but victory fell toward the side of the righteous and honorable house. 4th round. Kuki. 3-0...I was feeling good and ready for anything (except Martell apparently). The lannister kuki turned his back on his house for this tourney to play his shadows Martell deck. This is 1 house my deck did not get to play much against and sure enough, things went sour quick. Kuki played a very smart game by taking out Maege Mormont from the equation and playing a timely seduction on my valar. At the end of it all...3-1 was good enough to take the throne and bring winterfell back to its glory days. As always...The North Remembers. :)
