KOREY INGIN TAKES FIRST CAREER XCEL CHASSIS WIN WITH DOMINATING PERFORMANCE AT FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY Every driver wishes for that perfect night where nothing goes wrong and you bring home that first checkered flag for you and your crew. Korey Inglin, in his second full season, had that night on June 7th at Five Mile Point Speedway. In a sport where 28 Xcel Chassis 600 modifieds are vying for a chance to put the car in victory lane on any given night makes hit that much harder. These cars are so even as far as motor and suspension goes so finding the dream set up is key. No matter where I pointed the car, it never twitched in the turns. We have been close so many times and we finally got to victory lane. Its going to be a good week in the garage. stated Korey Inglin. He has earned the nickname Mr. Consistency thru out the modified ranks and can be seen roaming the pits learning as much as he can in one night. Inglin Racing now has a 2 car team with cousin Kyle joining in 2014 and Korey being the current points leader at Five Mile Point Speedways weekly division. The break out night started with the first of four heats to hit the track with Inglin taking the win and Jonathan Pepe, Ian Williamson and Will Eastman rounding out the heat race winners. The top two from each heat would redraw for their starting spots. Jordyn Mohr garnered the top spot along side Inglin and the 28 car field. The two would stay door to door at the drop of the green coming into turns one and two along with Josh Pepe and Ian Williamson. Cutting a tire in front of the pack put the Williamson machine in the pits early and reset the field. The track conditions improved as the night progressed giving 28 modifieds the surface needed to give the fans the show they came to watch. The pack of 28 cars had racing thru out the field. Aaron Bowes and Josh Pepe had a great battle while both were making their way to the front. Tim Van Horn ticked off the laps and cars putting his machine in 7th place by halfway along with Ronnie Molnar having his best finish with 9th. Van Horn earned hard charger with his efforts and surviving last lap cautions. Jordyn Mohr had his hands full trying to get to first place runner Inglin and holding off Jonathan Pepe. Korey had set his pace and was pulling away from the field just as Pepe took over second place just before the yellow flag brought the field under one roof. Those last laps will always be crystal clear for me. I knew Jon and Jordyn were right there on the restarts to take advantage of any mistake I made. You hate to see the caution flag during any race but when your that close to a win its frustrating. Keeping a cool head was my only concern along with hitting the marks I had been the entire race. I had no doubts my car was fast. I just had to keep it there. explained Inglin after tech was finished. A three lap battle would have the modifieds angling for any piece of real estate they could put their four tires on. Josh Pepe and Nathan Brinker went door to door with Josh inches in front of Brinker at the finish. Mohr used everything he had and brought home his best 600 modified career finish in third with Pepe running out of time to get around Inglin. Korey pointed to the sky on the cool down lap as 28 modified gave him the congratulatory bump on his way to victory lane. The most poignant moment of the night came during his victory lane interview. Korey had just finished thanking his crew of Mom,Dad,Kid,Kyle,Jeff,Uncle Kev and Nicole and was just about to dedicate the race to his late Uncle Joe when he spotted his crew running to victory lane and with a smile that could be seen from heaven stated Without my crew I wouldnt be here so each of us wants to dedicate this night to Uncle Joe and I know he smiling just as much as we all are. The Xcel Chassis will return to action this Friday June 13th at Penn Can Speedway as the mid season gets under way and the points battle starts to take shape.
