Jammu, December 25: The Congress party is ready to forge an alliance with the secular parties to keep the communal parties at bay, who are hell bent on dividing Jammu and Kashmir into bits and pieces. This was stated by the party spokesman, Salman Nizami in a statement issued here on thursday. He said that Congress is ready to support PDP in the formation of a stable government in Jammu and Kashmir. He said Congress has 12 MLAs and support of four other members to make PDP reach its magical figure of 44, required for the formation of a government. “We’re ready to join hands with the PDP. Our aim is to keep the communal BJP at bay and work in coordination with the PDP for the betterment of the state,” Nizami said. He added that the BJP was leaving no stone unturned to grab the power in Jammu and Kashmir. “If the media reports are true, desperate BJP on the side are holdings secret talks with National Conference, and on the other are trying to lure PDP towards it. PDP has to take a final call. Because they have sought votes from the people on keeping BJP at bay,” Nizami said, while reminding the PDP and NC leadership that any alliance with BJP will have catastrophic consequences because the BJP wants to pursue its RSS agenda in Jammu and Kashmir. “While BJP’s aim is to promote its communal agenda in the state, the fear of staying out of power is giving sleepless nights to Omar Abdullah and his party leadership. Any combination of these two parties will push Jammu and Kashmir into darkness,” the Congress spokesman said. He also ridiculed the offer of support to PDP by the National Conference, saying that Omar was resorting to political gimmickry. “The need of the hour is that the secular parties get united to defeat the nefarious designs of the communal forces. We’re ready to take the first step. The PDP must come forward and silence the voice of communal forces, once for all,” Nizami added.
