KU thief Saved from death PHOTO: COURTESY A thief at Kenyatta University was saved from jumping to his death from the third floor of a hostel. Witnesses said he was trying to steal a laptop from a Kilimambogo hostel room when the owner approached. He quickly ran to the window and hung on it on one side so the owner could not see him. But the owner had spotted him already and he instead called his friends to put stones directly below the window on the ground so that if the thief jumped he would hurt himself. He then took a knife and went to the window, threatening to chop off the thief’s fingers so he could fall to the ground. Witnesses said the thief was so scared and pleaded for mercy as he broke down in tears. The laptop owner kept him hanging on the window for about eight minutes before guards came to his rescue.
