KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested the nanny accused of abusing an 18-month-old toddler. Doctors were forced to surgically remove her skull due to blood clots, swelling and internal bleeding in her brain. The suspect, in her 30‘s, was arrested in her home in Flora Damansara, Saturday and is being remanded until Tuesday over child abuse allegations. When interrogated, the woman confessed that she had indeed hit the child several times on the head but claimed the childs condition was not her doing. She claims she only hits the child lightly on the head, with her finger, said Petaling Jaya OCPD ACP Azmi Abu Kassim Sunday. He said the woman was being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. Meanwhile, the uncle of the toddler said the child was still in critical condition but was now stable. The 18-month-old reportedly suffered spasms and fell unconscious after being picked up by her father on Thursday evening. The nanny claimed that the child fell from her chair while she was sleeping. Doctors said that the child had blood clots and was bleeding internally in her brain. They were forced to remove the top of skull to alleviate the swelling in her brain.
