KUDOS to CVS for no longer selling cigarettes. Why are they doing this? They have seen the future and realize that their company mission should be the promotion of health services and products, not cigarettes. In reorienting their image, CVS is being renamed CVS HEALTH. Yes, theyll drop $2 billion in revenue (out of $130b), but theyll pick it up over time in health care services. As a start, theyre already promoting smoking cessation services through their stores. I just hope that theyre really banking on prevention and not just counting on marketing the usual crisis-oriented services and products. For now, Im grateful not to see cigarettes for sale at CVS.
