KZN Music Imbizo And DIFF 2013 Partnership KZN Music Imbizo and the Durban International Film Festival partner to present a panel discussion dedicated to Music and Film, on Tuesday July 23 from 2pm till 4pm at the Blue Waters Hotel (Durban). The importance of music within the film industry cannot be underplayed. Music is the emotional connection. It brings the audience closer to the characters and builds anticipation in a way that words cannot. This session will look at the legalities that involve the use of music within film. What it involves to compose music for film and the best practices of involving music when filming. A group of professionals from both sectors will be discussing this vast and interesting topic. “As the KZN Music Imbizo, we are always looking at partnerships that will add value to the music industry. We believe that the industry in KwaZulu-Natal can benefit from such a session and relationships that could come out. The Film Festival has been running for over 30 years and we would like to see more musicians/composers/producers get involved plus more local directors/producers also get involved in the music industry.” states Sphe Mbhele, project manager of the KZN Music Imbizo. The panel discussion will feature Victor Mampane from the South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO), Marlijn Ntsele of iSupport Music Business (home to Heels Over Head, Abdus and Manelis), Lehlogonolo Shaft Moropane (Film Director / Producer / Writer), Johnny Dimba (Entertainment Lawyer) and Nkwenkwezi Languza ( representing the Department Of Arts & Culture: Archives).
