Karachi Does not close: In last 6 years, Karachi has seen estimated 12,000 killings - it does not close. On every incidents, tyres are burnt (though should not), the specific area closes for few hours, but city moves on - Karachi does not close. Barring two (will come to it), every party has tried to close Karachi - PML N, PPP, JUI F, ANP, Iftikhar Chaudhry (whatever his party), Jeay Sindh, - Karachi does not close. Umpteen times, few hundred or thousand people have tried to close the city - It remains dynamic, moving, electric - Karachi does not close. Only two entities have been able to close Karachi: Government - on Kashmir days and couple of other times - No surprises MQM - those living in Karachi will tell you that atleast 18 hours before the strike day begins, the city starts to echo with gun shots, people are out on street with guns to force people to close shops - The Naamaaloom Afraad Phenomena at work with all its glory. Even with People support (which was with MQM but in my view changed significantly - will only know the truth if and when clean elections are held), they needed to use very strong arm tactics to achieve their goal. Today is different. No Gun shots last night. No Government annoucement to close. People were out on streets celebrating, chanting the famous slogan these days, dancing to the tunes - jubiliation all around. In the morning, guess what - Karachi Closed - No killing, no gun shots, no force (except for few hundred or thousands people on roads) and few tyre burning incident (not appreciated). People decided to express their right of protest by staying at home, not closing shops, not going to offices - to put a stamp on their desire to Know the truth - what actually happened in Election. Nobody can take this right away from people - to know the truth and for that after 18 months to record their protest. Whether we like it or not, Even the truth is not presented on plate. It has to be earned - today Karachites have earned this right to be elightened with the actual Truth - whatever it may be. Yes!!!! Voluntaritly for the first time Karachi Closed - Question now remains - is it enough to finally determine the THE TRUTH.
