Karen Badon I the Vice President of the Baldwin Neighborhood - TopicsExpress

Karen Badon I the Vice President of the Baldwin Neighborhood Homeowners Assn - your neighbors to the northwest. We are in constant contact with our Senior Lead Officer with LAPD. A few comments: 1) Many break ins are committed by young people - early 20s, teens and younger. They will carry an empty backpack (sometimes with pillowcases in them) so that they can grab small items quickly once inside a home. Many times they walk up and down the street (casing homes) while talking on the cell phone (to give info to the others involved). 2). It is imperative that we know our neighbors and the kids in our neighborhood. Also, let one or two of your neighbors know if you are having work done on your house (ie: strange trucks) or if there is a good reason for a strange car to suddenly appear in front off your house in the middle of the day (ie: house guests). 3) these burglars do not want to be recognized. If you see someone strange, say hi, ask if you can help then with something, etc. if you have raised your kids with manners, they will know how to respond appropriately is a neighbor says hi or asks them who their mama is. 4) One if my neighbors (who is in law enforcement) had ID cards made for his sons for just that very reason. He also had a talk with them about the reality of being stopped or questioned. Sad reality but this is the world we live in. 5) Our Assn holds quarterly meetings and we usually have an update from LAPD. If a rep from your neighborhood would like to attend or if you would like to have one of our officers attend your meetings, please send me a private message. 6) Lets work together to keep our communities nice!!
