Karen Moks Named Suffolk County EMS Educator of the Year! Karen Moks has been a member of Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps (CVAC) since July 16, 1981. She has served various officer positions within the organization, which reflects the confidence the entire organization has of her qualities. Some of those positions include: 1st Asst. Chief in 1988, 1992, 1996; 2nd Asst. Chief (Medical Officer) 2001-2005 and Board Member 2000. She currently serves as a Captain. In 1999, Karen took the lead of the Training Officer, training our probationary members in the classroom and has continued in the position to the current time. She is an EMT-CC who has received many awards over the years. Karen has been instrumental in training the probationary members to become some of the best providers in Suffolk County. She has designed a curriculum over the years that is second to none and requires the new members to attend up to six months of classroom/hands on training. Her dedication to the members has enabled these members to be totally ready to enter and easily complete their NYS EMT certifications. After completion of her training, Robert Delagi, Chief of Suffolk County EMS, and an instructor at Suffolk County Community College has advised us on many occasions that the students he receives from Karens training program are the consistently the most prepared providers. Karen requires a lot of her trainees, but she is a very caring, dedicated and knowledgeable educator. Karen has produced an immeasurable number of EMS candidates to become excellent EMS providers whether it is in their first EMT class or the members that have continued on to the ALS level either as EMT-CCs or Paramedics. Karen is extremely deserving of this special award, and the Chiefs and Officers congratulate her on this achievement!
