Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observed Black Day, today, to convey to the world that they reject India’s illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir. It was on this day in 1947 when Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir and forcibly occupied it in total violation of the partition plan of the Subcontinent and against the Kashmiris’ aspirations. The day was marked with complete shutdown in occupied Kashmir, call for which was given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference and Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by other pro-freedom organizations and the High Court Bar Association of the occupied territory. The puppet authorities had deployed Indian troops and police personnel in strength in Srinagar and other towns to prevent people from holding anti-India demonstrations. The AJK chapter of APHC staged a sit-in protest outside the UN Office in Islamabad. Speakers on the occasion termed killing of innocent Kashmiris by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir as the worst form of state terrorism. The sit-in was attended among others by the AJK President, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, Barrister Sultan Muhmood Chaudhry, Shah Ghulam Qadir, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Ghulam Muhammad Safi and Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl. A resolution presented to the UN Office urged the World Body to impress upon India to withdraw its troops, release illegally detained Kashmiris and repeal black laws from occupied Kashmir. Hurriyet leaders Ishtiyaq Hameed and Daud Khan Yousufzai led a rally in Muzaffarabad In Berlin, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany, Abdul Basit, addressing a seminar in connection with the Black Day said that it was incumbent upon the world community to help resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
