Kate and Gerry McCann are claiming £1million in damages from Goncalo Amaral, they have tried to convince the court, amongst other things, that The Truth of the Lie damaged the search for Madeleine. But it seems to me damage was done long before the book was written and I cant see anything to back up this outrageous claim....... Kate and Gerry Kate admitted in an interview that while police and locals, some of whom took time of work, searched for her missing child she didnt bother. They both ignored police advice of no publicity, instead they went on pre arranged walkabouts indulging in press attention. Rather than staying close to the investigation within a few weeks Kate and Gerry went off round the world meeting very important people including the Pope. Kate McCann refused to answer 48 questions put to her by the PJ. She answered one confirming she was harming the investigation. All 7 of their friends refused to take part in a reconstruction requested by the PJ who were looking for Madeleine. After the case was shelved they could have had it reopened simply by Kate answering the questions she refused or by agreeing to a reconstruction. They did neither. Instead of spending money raised for their LTD company on finding Madeleine,which is its purpose, they spend it mostly on lawyers suing any negative press and defending themselves. They also spent a fortune hiring the worst private investigators money could buy. An efit was produced with the help of witness Martin Smith and his family, although it was given to Leicestershire police Kate and Gerry, despite having the means to do so, never publicised the efit. The Truth of the Lie is based on the Portuguese investigation, its findings and Goncalo Amarals theory after spending five months as the coordinating investigator. Goncalo Amaral and the PJ. Along with local residents mounted a huge search for Madeleine. Goncalo Amaral cancelled his holiday to dedicate himself to the investigation. Cooperated with Leicestershire police who flew over to assist. Interviewed hundreds of people including staff, holiday makers, local residents and business owners as well as people coming forward with information. Investigated sightings worldwide. Brought in highly trained sniffer dogs recommended by a British detective. The Portuguese investigation was on such a huge scale it took Scotland Yard years to review the thousands of pages in it. Its quite clear who harmed the search for Madeleine, and even at this moment in time they are doing nothing to search for their daughter. They admitted in an interview that their company isnt funding any investigation. Since the Truth of the Lies publication there has been a review and now an investigation in the UK, costing an estimated £8million so far, the case has been reopened in Portugal and Kate and Gerry have had continued support by the media keeping Madeleine in the public eye. NO CHILD HAS BEEN SEARCHED FOR MORE THAN MADELEINE McCANN. And that is still the case nearly 8 years later. In fact Kate and Gerry have not produced one single witness that has stated they were looking for Madeleine but stopped after reading Amarals book. Not one!!
