Keep your eyes out for Southern Delta Aquariid (SDA) meteors over the next couple weeks. The SDAs are active over a long period, with meteors being seen from July 12 until August 23, however the peak is set to occur July 29-30 this year. Rates may be up to 15-20 per hour, which is aided by a nearly moon-less sky, and are best seen in the Southern Hemisphere, or the southern latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere. Here is a nice SDA meteor seen last year in one of the Meteoroid Environment Offices wide-field cameras located in Huntsville, Alabama.
