Kemusykilan Rakyat Question Assalamualaikum ustaz, As a jemaah, is it an obligation to recite surah al fateha AFTER the imam has recite it or during the 2 silent rakaats/prayers(zuhur/asar)... I have experienced where the imam was very fast in reciting sampaikan lum habis, imam already rukuk. Thanks in advance ustaz. Answer Waalaikum salam wr wb This is a common question being asked repeatedly. Yes is it wajib to recite Al fatiha in every solat except solat jamaah. The scholars has a different opinions abt this issue. Solat jamaah is consider as ONE SOLAT lead by one imam who must recite Al Fatihah in every rakaah. As for makmum, to some scholars, they can choose to recite or not as when hed join jamaah with an Imam, the imam already recited for everyone in his jamaah. If he choose to recite, it is considered as a supplement for him but he must ruku with the Imam regardless whether he has finishes his Al Fatihah or not. If he has not finishes his Al Fatihah, the recitation of the imam already covered for him. This apply for every type of solat.
