Ken Peifer and Checo Muniz from CYFOR Technologies gave a presentation to today to the BAHEP Small Business Committee about cyber security considerations that small businesses need to take into account. A few highlights from the presentation are: • Cybersecurity is now a mental game with technology being secondary • The two most common threats are Cyber Crime and Hacktivism. • Hacktivism is also called cyber-vandalism or cyber-terrorism. People/groups identify targets with the goal of affecting social change in some manner. • A small business may be a target of an attack or they could be collateral damage of an attack on someone else. • Small businesses need to take a “holistic” approach to their business and balance risk versus risk for cybersecurity threats.
