Burns: A Celebration Of Our Love January 2015 From our first encounter in March of 2006 on the personals of Yahoo To our first date at the Starbucks in Fillmore on April 22, Earth Day, so true You, a minster, and I, a teacher in dance, Shared so much more than judging a book by its glance My love of pandas, your love of elephants, my love of James Dean, your love of Marilyn Monroe Led us to our shared love of places like Sea World and Universal Studios Your love of Eeyore and my love of Minnie Mouse Blended so well in our combined condo house From our numerous trips to San Diego, Las Vegas, and Disneyland And our trip to Manhattan, where we saw Gore Vidals “The Best Man” Taking my mother to Caesars Palace in Vegas to see Cher To seeing the Chippendales in nothing but their underwear Our 4 trips to the “Supernatural” FanFest, our favorite TV show: 3 of them in Burbank, and 1 at the Vegas Rio Taking me to the Venetian to see the “Phantom of the Opera,” you were my hero While I took you, in Manhattan, to the see the Twin Towers Ground Zero Seeing you officiate at weddings and perform with the choir of bells While you watched me in many “Nutcrackers,” wishing I could prance like gazelles Numerous Thanksgivings spent with your family and friends Our almost 9 years together, never thinking we would see the end Being by your side at the Cottage Hospital when cancer reared its ugly head To being there before and after your leg surgery next to your CMH bed You shared your struggles, your frustrations, your anger, your pain And I put on a brave face to be your strength, though I had nothing to gain Except for your courage, your compassion, your ability to put others before you And above all else, you gave me your love, and I will forever love and adore you.
