Kenya and Uganda are facing one of the greatest national disasters of all time putting the security and future of the two countries at risk. Kenya and Uganda must declare youth unemployment as national disasters which require appropriate intervention. Uganda has the youngest population in the world. 77% of Uganda’s population is under 30 years of age. Youth unemployment rate is in Uganda stands at 80%. In Kenya youth unemployment rate in is at 40%. In both countries the problem of unemployment is a major cause of insecurity and instability. In Kenya 7 out of every 10 unemployed people are youth; while in Uganda 9 out of every 10 unemployed people are youth. Both countries have established loan funds which are not creating employment for youth. This means that Kenya and Uganda are facing one of the greatest national disasters of all time putting the security and future of the country at risk.
