Kenya ranked 13 in top 25 ‘World most miserable places’ ***************************************** Kenya did well in a new report by measuring misery indices among different countries in the world. In the Arthur Orkum report published by Yahoo News, Kenya came at position 13 among 25 most miserable countries. The economic survey sums up a country’s unemployment and inflation rates to assess conditions on the ground. The higher the number, the more miserable a country is with the assumption that most citizens understand the pain of a high jobless rate and the soaring price of goods. At least 197 countries were surveyed. At position 13, Kenya Misery index score stood at 50.1 with inflation at 10.1% and unemployment rate of 40%. The report blames corruption and reliance on a few specific primary goods whose prices have remained low in the international market. On a positive note, the report project ‘good times’ for the country after discovery of oil, ooh, and though they forgot it, I just want to add: a large water well bigger than the one TD Jakes drilled for ‘folks here in Africa’! The good thing with the report is that our new friends are miserable in it too. Zimbabwe comes tops at position one with an unemployment rate of 95% followed by Liberia, Burkina Faso, Belarus and Djibouti. Other countries in top ten includes Namibia, Nepal, Kosovo and Syria. This will be bad news for patriots coming after the US president not long ago joked about the country and Syria having certain similarities. Anyway, number 13 is not bad, let’s continue with preparations for the year-long celebrations of Kenya@50.
