Kerala schools stop serving midday meals during Ramzan. The daily said that there are some schools in places like Thiruangadi, Vengara, Thennala, Mancheri, Cherumanna, Thanoor & Vanimel that function to the Islamic calendar. These schools declare holidays for a month during Ramzan every year. Some schools even suspend classes before lunch hours during the month of Ramzan. In addition, there are no classes on Friday and some schools have even been taken over by Islamic hardliners who are working towards enforcing Islamic rules and systems there.
