Kerala’s social reformers Sree Narayana Guru and Ayyankali, whom Narendra Modi recently discovered, have not met with the approval of the RSS yet. Their names do not figure in the list of great Bharatiya leaders whose vision and experience RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat commended to the new policy-makers in his nationally telecast Vijayadasami speech. But he has approved of Babasaheb Ambedkar, Acharya Vinoba Bhave and Ram Manohar Lohia, besides Mahatma Gandhi and Jayaprakash Narayan. Maybe Kerala must be grateful to the Sarvasanghchalak for not putting Ayyankali and Narayana Guru in the company of Guru Golvalkar and V. D. Savarkar who are also in that list.
