Kern County Residents: When you pay your vehicle registration fee please remember to thank the Valley Air Board for the added fees caused by the political offsets and mitigations that led to the enormous fine that each of us gets to help pay off for the next several years. Last time it came out to an additional $12 a year for each car you own. We finally avoided a fine because we barely had good enough air quality to stay below the threshhold...but just barely. I wonder how much more it will cost when that HECA goal gasification plant starts bringing all that coal dust into our valley from New Mexico. It isnt like the plant will pay the Clean Air Act fines. We will end up footing the bill. Im still wondering why the Kern Taxpayers association isnt all up-in-arms about this. We still have time to stop it.
