Key Position of the Snatch - The Drop Following on from - TopicsExpress

Key Position of the Snatch - The Drop Following on from yesterday and the maximum upward extension, as this is reached the lifter has to change direction. At this point with the feet losing contact with the ground, no further upward force can be applied to the bar, and the lifter will now pull, drop under the bar. The extended position of the trunk and chest at the top of the pull should be maintained during the drop under the bar to the receive position. 1. The feet will move out slightly sideways, however this is dependent upon the lifter. 2. The trunk will be in the same strong position as in the maximum upward extension of the pull. 3. The arms will still have elbows rotated outward and forward but beginning to bend as the lifter now drops under the bar. The wrists are still straight. As the drop continues, the elbows/arms being to rotate about the bar. Once the bar clears the head, the lifter can begin to adopt the receive position which we will continue with tomorrow.
