KickOff has learnt that Nigerian midfielder Onyekachi Okonkwo and striker Takesure Chinyama are heading for the exit door at Orlando Pirates. Pirates are currently preparing a list of players to be put on transfer, with the hope of bringing in some new signings before the end of the week. Despite having had a brilliant career with Bucs before moving to Switzerland with FC Zurich, Okonkwo failed to live up to expectations last season, while Chinyama has spent most of his time on the sidelines nursing injuries. According to a source close to the Bucs camp, the duo have already been notified that they are surplus to requirements. “Okonkwo’s discipline record at Pirates has not been good, and he fought with both Screamer Tshabalala and Roger de Sa last season. He is one of the players that the club has decided against keeping,” our sources reveal. Pirates have already recalled all players who were on loan, including Aubrey Ngoma, Tshepo Liphoko, Jomo Rashele, and will be assessing them to determine whether to keep them for next season. Bucs chairman Irvin Khoza is expected to announce former Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Jacky Motshegwa as one of his new signings soon.
