Kidnapped businessman of Kokrajhar rescued from Salkocha, 15 Muslim millitants held From our Correspondent KOKRAJHAR, November 8: After a week, the joint team of Kokrajhar Police and CRPF on Friday could rescue the businessman Prasanta Dutta who was kidnapped on November 1 at Kokrajhar from Salkocha hill early in the morning at around 1 pm. In this connection, police arrested a gang of 15 Muslims hailed from various villages of Kokrajhar, Dhubri and Bongaigaon districts. The arrested culprits have been sent to Kokrajhar jail. A case was registered against the kidnapping case at Kokrajhar PS vide case No. 542/13 under section 365 IPC. The names of those 15 arrested muslim millitants are Mojahar Ali (29) village of Joypur, Sahjahan Ali (33) resident of Joypur, Usman Ali (30) Srirampur Dhubri, Samir Ali (40) Panbari, Samsul Ali (40) Joypur, Md Ali Shiek (30) Joypur, Sona Ulla (45) Haridol Panbari, Johar Ali (21) Joypur, Kadam Ali (32) Joypur, Md Hamidur Ali (24) Joypur, Nur Hussain (30) Jhankura part 1, Ishab Ali (55) Panbari, Azar Ali (27) Kanthamari Kokrajhar, Saidul Islam (29) Joypur, and Saidul Shiek (28) Joypur. In an interview with media persons, the businessman Prasanta Dutta said that eight persons covered with black cloth took him away with a Maruti Suzuki to somewhere and they tortured him physically. He said he was taken to the house of a Muslim family as the women who served meal for him was a Muslim woman and demanded Rs 1 crore. He also said that the kidnappers asked him to sell out his 12 bighas of land situated at Joypur under Kokrajhar police station which was the epi–centre of violence with indigenous people and give them an amount of Rs 1 crore. The OC of the Kokrajhar police station– Chatadal Deka said the police and CRPF carried out search operation jointly under the leadership of Additional SP– Surjit Singh Panesar based on specific information where Dutta was taken hostage. He said they nabbed a person involved in the kidnapping at Salkocha and after verifying his mobile phone they could arrest fifteen persons. He also said they did not find any arms and ammunition and yet to ascertain whether they are having link with militant organizations and interrogation is going on. He further said a Maruti Suzuki bearing No AS–16B/2681 which was used in kidnapping of Dutta was recovered from them. It may be mentioned that businessman Prasanta Dutta was kidnapped on November 1 at around 9 pm at Narabari under Kokrajhar police station by unidentified miscreants while he was returning home from his shop. The people directly suspected the hands of the NDFB (S) behind the kidnapping of businessmen in Kokrajhar district. The activities of muslim community at infamous Joypur, Kokrajhar, where suspected illegal immigrants from neighbouring country are flooding, has become an epi–centre of crimes. Before the violence between the indigenous Bodos and muslim community mostly immigrants from Bangladesh was triggered from that place where scuffle with security forces was also taken place over the plot of forest land at Bedlangmari in Kokrajhar. Besides, four Bodo youths were also brutally killed at Joypur on July 20, 2012 from which the violence took worst turn. The people of the district also suspected that the miscreants of same bengali muslim community could have hands in the killing of businessman Debasish Saha at Bawraguri Bazar on October 25 as the area is dominated by the minority community in every road.
