Kids are taking a nap, so I had a chance to look around at some - TopicsExpress

Kids are taking a nap, so I had a chance to look around at some other Facebook pages that have posed about the current Salmonella outbreak. I must say that some of the comments are laughable at best, and that is how bad information spreads. The best four words to keep in mind when reading some of these blogs and forums are, SHOW ME THE PROOF. Some of the posts state that I said people needed to cull their flocks, and that could not be further from the truth. I never said that, ever. I welcomed four poultry experts on my web radio show with credentials that are second to none. They all gave their expert opinions based on the information available from this current Salmonella outbreak. Three out of four recommended culling the flock. Im sure I could find may more poultry experts with amazing credentials that would state the same thing. As I stated yesterday, Its apparent that no matter how many chicken experts on the planet say there are only two options, until some people hear the option they WANT to hear (right or wrong) they will never be happy. They will search the world until they hear the one answer they are looking for, and then all the other answers are not valid. Even the doctor on the show that did not recommend culling agreed there were only two choices available: 1. Cull the flock. or 2. Keep the flock, and implement good biosecurity practices. If you dont like choice one, there is always choice two! Here is an interesting analogy: If I sat two jars of peanut butter on the table in front of you with a spoon. One jar came from a factory with a confirmed outbreak of Salmonella and one jar did not, which jar are you going to eat from? Yes, both jars have a chance of having Salmonella just like every other jar in the store, but one is involved in a confirmed outbreak. Which jar are you going to eat from? Anyway, just some thoughts I wanted to share. I hope you all continue to enjoy your weekend.
