Kim & I had an awesome day fishing the Snake river. The best part was the float down the river. We saw many Bald Eagles, nests with young just learning to take flight. A huge Golden eagle sitting on an island eating its catch and the scenery was beyond description. We both caught a dozen small Cut Throats, all very small, but still exciting on ultra-light tackle. I came in second best with a 6 lbs +, but Kim took the Grand Prize. She snagged a 230 lbs Great White North American Fat Ass. Thank God it was catch & release. It put up quite a struggle, but finally surrendered to her persistent skill and perfectly set hook. There was concern for its survival, as it took the guides vast knowledge, expertise and 15 minutes to remove the hook from the anterior portion of the scalp, along massive patches of hair. Bleeding stopped within a few minutes and the Fat Ass was returned to its natural habitat. I now have a small bald patch on the back of my head. No foul words were ever exchanged. The guide said he had great admiration for my patience and pain threat hold. I did owe him $20.00 for the bend hook removal tool.
