Kirkpatrick Fleming - delivering high quality learning The achievements of Kirkpatrick Fleming Primary School, near Annan, were praised in the most recent round of school inspection reports. The school was inspected in early October 2013 and Education Scotland inspectors commended the children’s exceptional behaviour, their high levels of motivation, confidence and willingness to learn. Inspectors found that the school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment with an enthusiastic staff who successfully support children’s needs. A key strength noted in the inspection findings is that the staff provide high quality feedback that improves the children’s work. The report noted the improvements in the children’s attainment in writing and their successes in a range of sporting activities. Mrs Morven Irving, Chair of the school’s Parent Council expressed that, “The report really reflects our happy school. Parents are proud to send their children to Kirkpatrick Fleming Primary, knowing the high standard of education and care its staff provides.” Inspectors felt that the school is well placed to continue working in partnership with the children and parents to evaluate the work of the school and to improve curriculum courses, under the strong leadership and direction of the Headteacher, Lorna Grierson, who stated, “I am delighted that the school has received such a positive report which reflects all the hard work that pupils, staff and parents have put into our school.” This is a very good inspection report which acknowledges the hard work, commitment and dedication of the school team and the very supportive community.
