Knighting Prince Phillip is both hilarious and mad, but it is still one of the least offensive things that Abbott has done. I wish that everyone carrying on about it would carry on as much about his approach to the environment. Or refugees. If there was a monarchy which guaranteed a respectful and urgent involvement with the former and a humane approach to the latter, Im cool with living in it. Why do Australians get enraged about the wrong things, consistently? It is maddening. (Also, it isnt a demotion for Phillip. All the people carrying on about that just makes the sense of being deliberately distracted more palpable).
