Know Your Friends.......Yoruba! I pray that the present Yoruba generation would know that development of Yoruba land can only be done by the Yoruba and not by any other tribes in Nigeria. Any descendant of Oduduwa trying to please the Igbo or hoping to have a formidable front with them to have a strong nation and progress is only a dreamer and should try make a rethink before it is too late. This notion of one Nigeria should be redefined and for some of us that are very religious, we should not stop fasting and praying to God to make Nigeria one even when people are dying yearly in thousands, poverty is shrinking deeper, corruption continues to have a free day, widowers, widows, orphans and mortality rate increasing unabated, doesn’t matter once we have one decaying nation intact. Nigeria is better imagined as a country containing Palestine and Israel to form a nation, let the religious leaders of the world keep fasting and praying for 40 days, there wouldn’t be peace if such nation was formed. Even without this, peace will not come to middle east, it is an unchangeable verdict passed by God no amount of political mechanism and dialogue to stem the continuous carnage. Those who keep praying should know that God doesn’t live in the midst of evil or violence, Nigeria can not remain at the bosom of God if this evil is growing up every day. This brings me to state my view on the Igbo race. Individually, l have no problem with them but as a nation they are better seen as an enemy that can never be appeased by any Yoruba individuals or groups. I can sound stupid to those who can reason stupidly and sensible to those who have the hope for the great Oduduwa nation. Why would the Igbo never be a friend to me is that they all wish that millions of children of the Yoruba should die to serve as retaliation to our aligning with the north to defeat them. This blood for blood, eye for an eye is their expectation to the Yoruba, which to their surprise and frustration, God has never granted their request and l am sure will never do but instead, year in year out they are the one walking into the butchery. What did the Yoruba do to Igbo and why are they nursing a revenge mission? Their main reason is that we supported the north, changed the currency and used starvation policy. But did Japan accuse USA of genocide when Madagaski and Hiroshima were bombed? Neither was it praying that America should one day fall and die like the Japanese that died during the war. Israelis never prayed that Germans should die like the Jews that Hitler a German, killed in their millions instead they formed a bilateral agreement for mutuality and progress of each nation respectively. What about the Vietnam war in US when many souls were lost, white Americans hostility to the blacks in the past are all forgotten, white and blacks in south Africa, Zimbabwe just to mention few. To come back home, we allow you to dwell, flourish and rear children as much as you can and often times say let’s forget about the past but you say no, every opportunity the Igbo have to clinch the top positions in Nigeria, their first plan is to deal with the Yoruba not even the Hausa who spiflicate lives out of them at will. It pains me and get me very furious to see some flippant minds of the Yoruba extractions who say the Igbo and the Yoruba are friends and can work together. If you care to understand me, individually they can be good but as a nation, the Yoruba do not need anything from the Igbo rather they need us to survive with or without Nigeria. How would Pa Awo support the dream of Biafra, let’s reason it out: He (Awo) and his colleagues moved and fought for the Independence before the Igbo strongman (Zik), Zik and the British vowed to teach Awo a lesson to remember in his grave for his effrontery to move a motion for self governance. In 1960, he was sidelined and the responsibilities and authorities were given to those who did not have vision of independence, that was the beginning of failure of a nation that would forever remain divided and disorderly. In 1963, Zik, Amadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa conspired to deal with this innocent and Yoruba God’s given leader Awo, they sent him to jail and planned to poison him there and later die just as it was planned for OBJ and Yar’dua in 1996-97. At this time, the Igbo nation was in jubilation that their enemy had been sent to jail and never to return. This action was repeated during the first coup and were rejoicing that all northern leaders were killed but Igbo leaders escaped to their hideouts. In this, they were thought the lessons they still remember till date and blaming the Yoruba for their woes. This was the summary of the articles recently published by Chief Fani Kayode FFK. Though many did not know that when God watches over someone, it is difficult to destroy that person instead the enemy is digging is own dungeon. In 1966, Pa Awo elegantly and magnificiently rode to the seat of power to saddle the affairs of this country to have the lives of his enemy on his left palm but yet he tampered justice with mercy for them, yet these ingrates feel cheated always even with death of col. Adekunle Fajuyi. The holy book says” tell a righteous man that it shall be well with him but to the wicked woe unto him for they shall have their rewards on earth. Truly Ojukwu asked Pa Awo to declare sovereign nation of Oduduwa, without equipping us with mechanized weapon, did the Igbo expect us to use sticks and knives to fight? They must be reasoning like kindergartens as that time. l will forever be grateful to God and baba for not trending the ground like a kindergarten leader, which the Igbo expected him to behave. The lesson our generation should learn from this is that if Awo decided to fight Gowon whose seat of power was in Dadon barracks Lagos, and all the army formations in Southwest was headed by the Northern officers what happened to the Igbo would have been the case for the Yoruba. No Yoruba officers were willing and courageous to fight when the same Igbo coup plotters had killed almost the top Yoruba officers like Brig Gen. Ademulegun and others, Major Gen Oladipupo Ogundimupe escape by a whisker. No Yoruba leaders had acquired weapon to secede and fight the FG and military in 1966. This coup was planned by Aguiyi, Ojukwu and the whole Igbo to capture Nigeria to their side because they never saw the Yoruba as threat but the north not knowing that the most difficult, unbend-able force to conquer in Nigeria is Oduduwa people, warriors like Scorpion,OBJ, Akinriade, Adebayo and so on. Though the Igbo learnt hard lesson when they themselves became victims. They can provoke the Yoruba because they are the one tuning the president to the frequency of their choice, l am not surprised and agreeing less that this decaying nation is governed by a kindergarten president. They think the Chief of the Army Staff is an Igbo, so they want to capture Lagos by all means, no any sane man will call Lagos ‘no man’s land’. It is an abuse of rights and an insult to us the host community when we have a crowned King Oba Akiolu, IG (rtd) and able, agile and brilliant governor Fashola SAN. If Aguiyi Ironsi could fail to capture Nigeria as a head of state, l don’t think the Igbo can intimidate us with the army head which they see as their armoury. Finally, as Pa Awo surmounted the forces of opposition, God the Almighty will make the Oduduwa surmount every oppression and opposition on our ways to our promised land.
