Kokulu paused, whats happening? Where is Bajana and Dodo? Im looking through key holes and gaps for them. They call me but I cant see them. I show them, basilico/ basil, buckadeea/bucket, bhao wao/bow wow doggie. Both Babajan and Dodolina still hide. They are naughty not like Coco/ Kumkum Shah. My mejo Dimma. She always shows me her face and many others faces. I even tell them about the kala kuttah (spoken with a Brit/Italico accent). And how to bath ( meaning swat with a bat) this naughty kuttah who takes the muggi/murgi away and bites the goats tummy. I chitter chatter like a chattering chimia/monkey, a galeri/squirrel. And then I finally tell them, I want to go to Goa! This last darting exclamation flung in the air fills Babjan Koala and Dimma Koala eyes with huge blobs of tears. They are perplexed by a perplexed Kokulu. They look at each other with huge sighs, whoosh and ooofs, then they nod their heads, wag their bottoms, shrugs their ample shoulders and wriggles their expanding waistline. Wrinkling their noses they wonder, doesnt Kokulu know? Hes already in Goa! Kokulu wrinkles his noses further perplexed, he means he wants to go to Bangalore. What a topsy turvy world.... And at last Babjan understands growling in low tones he sighs yet once again, aha my Saumalu Kokulu. Dodolina weeps in great sheets of rain in her heart mumbling, Amar Shonar chele, ami tomai bhalobashi. Crooning her Bengali songs, ami chini goh chini tomare, Pagla Hawa she jhik miks and lulls her jonaki heart to ghoom parani Mashi pishi. Kokulu interprets for the English speaking Koalas. The last Bengali song phrases. My golden son I love you, I know know you, , mad breeze, sparkle sparkle, firefly and finally, the maternal and paternal sleep aunts.
