Konidala Siva Sankara Vara Prasad alias Chiranjeevi born on 22 August 1955 is an actor, producer, politician and a member of the “ Indian National Congress”. He is the Minister of State with independent chargefor “ Ministry of Tourism”, Government of India. Prior to politics, Chiranjeevi has worked primarily in Telugu Cinemaincluding Tamil, Kannadaand Hindifilms. He made his acting debut in 1978through the film Punadhirallu. However, Pranam Khareedureleased earlier at the box office. Owing to his box-office appeal, popular entertainment magazines, Filmfare, and India Todayquoted him “Bigger than Bachchan”, a reference toBollywood’s Amitabh Bachchan. In 1987, He became the first south Indian actor to be invited at the 59th Academy Awardsceremony. News magazine The Weekhailed him as “Thenew money machine”. Gharana Mogudu, the blockbuster movie was the first Telugu filmto gross over 100 million rupees at the box office. The film made Chiranjeevi the highest paid actor in India, of the time, catapulting him to hit the cover pages of noted national weekly magazines in India. In 2002, Chiranjeevi was felicitated withSamman Awardfor the Highest Income Tax Payer for the assessment year 1999-2000 by the Minister of State for Finance, Government of India. In 2013, He inaugurated the Incredible IndiaExhibition, a joint participation ofthe Ministry of Tourismand Ministry of Information and Broadcastingat the 66th Cannes Film Festival. He represented Incredible Indiaat the 14th International Indian Film Academy Awardsceremony held at Macau. In a film career spanning more than thirty years, Chiranjeevi was starred in 149 feature films. In 1988, along with his brother Nagendra Babu, he co-produced Rudraveena, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. He has won four state Nandi Awardsand ten Filmfare Awards South. Chiranjeevi was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award, for his contributions towards Indian cinema. In 2006, he was presented an honorary doctorate from Andhra University.In 2013, IBN LIVE named him as one of “The men who changed the face of the Indian Cinema”. Chiranjeevi founded the Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation, established in 1998, which is involved in humanitarian activities. In 2008, he entered politics by forming the Praja Rajyam Party. In the 2009 Andhra Pradesh elections, Chiranjeevi contested from his native place Palakolluand Tirupati.He was defeatedby the Congress party candidate in Palakollu and was elected as a memberof the State Assemblyfrom Tirupati constituency.He led the Praja Rajyam Party to emerge as the third largest party during the same election. Later inFebruary 2011 his Praja Rajyam Party Merged into Indian National Congress. Chiranjeevi continued to give hits to Tollywood. Some of his blockbusters are “Abhilasha” (1983), “Challenge” (1984), “Pasivadi Pranam” (1987), “Athaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu” (1989), “Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari” (1990), “Kodama Simham” (1990), “Gang Leader” (1991), “RowdyAlludu” (1991) and “Gharana Mogudu” (1992). After a phase of low-career, during themid 1990’s, Chiranjeevi made a comeback in the late 1990’s with another series of blockbusters, including Master (1997), Choodalani Vundi (1998), Bavagaru Bagunnara (1998) and Sneham Kosam (1999). “Indra” (2002) proved to be a mega hit and was one amongst the highest grossing movies of the year. Though Megastar has good reputation in the Film Industry, he has no Credibility in the Politics. He is a man of no controversies in film industry. But he has not proved himself as a good politician. Due to which most of his fans have become anti-fans. Though he failed to run his own political party, he was established in politics because of his charisma only..
