Krazy Kool Caking Tip #63: MAKE SURE THE CAKE IS WORTH IT! I remember just starting out and standing over my KitchenAid mixer at 2:00 a.m. making buttercream icing. I was exhausted like never before. To the point of hallucinating. I had to be at work in 6 hours. I just broke down crying and realized that I was killing myself. Thats the day that I KNEW things had to CHANGE. I wasnt even enjoying it anymore. I was ready to throw in the towel. Are you in the same boat? If so, things HAVE TO change. For your health, your peace of mind, and your family, you need to not only begin to CHOOSE YOUR ORDERS CAREFULLY, you also need to MAKE SURE you are using GOOD TIME MANAGEMENT. More importantly, you need to make sure that you are being COMPENSATED for your work. Ultimately, WE are the ones to blame if we are killing ourselves over a cake and not making any money off of it. Most of you are Moms and are running your businesses from home. A lot of you have kids. They of course are your priority in life. I cant stress it enough! MAKE SURE THE CAKE IS WORTH IT! If youre going to spend countless hours on a cake, then AT LEAST have SOMETHING to show for it. Make sure you CHARGED ENOUGH so that you can AT LEAST buy your kids school supplies, clothes, take them to eat to a nice restaurant, or buy them something theyve been asking for. It breaks my heart when I see cakers spending so much of their TIME on a cake, and in the end, it was ALL FOR NOT. Let us ask God for WISDOM in our cake businesses so that we make the RIGHT DECISIONS for US and our FAMILIES, and begin to choose our CLIENTS and PRICES WISELY.
