Kudos to the livestock industry in Weld County! A report indicating that nitrogen levels in Rocky Mountain National Park are about 15 times higher than normal was attributed to sources like fossil fuels and ammonia from ag operations. Even though most of the feedlots in Weld County are at least 60 miles away, the Colorado Livestock Association is working with climatologists and scientists to develop an early warning system. Based on atmospheric conditions, ranchers and livestock operations will refrain from scraping manure or fertilizing crops at certain times. Read the full article in todays Greeley Tribune.
