Kumo to Chūrippu AKA Kumo to Tulip (1943) is a classic Japanese cartoon. In 2001, the Japanese magazine Animage designated Kumo to Tulip the fourth best anime production of all time. It is also an example of Japanese war propaganda. I mean, what better way to represent American imperialist aggression than by a Japanese Ladybug being menaced by a spider in blackface doing a Bing Crosby impression?
