Kwanzaa is a holiday that Americans created. African Americans also created Black History Month and CHOSE the month of February. Kwanzaa is for black people who want to separate their families from the legacy of niggerdom... If only just for this one week (Like most holidays this season). It is not an African holiday, contrary to what my teacher in elementary school led me to believe its not an week of Pan African solidarity, its simply honoring that you came from something and reinforcing the determined path to becoming more. Kwanzaa is not a sankofa celebration only because people have created history in order to supplement the principles, and it keeps the eyes on the African American while only regarding where we came from in the vocabulary, which isnt the language the slaves spoke getting off of the boats.
