THUNDER WOMEN (1984) To appease writer David Engelbach, who was originally slated to direct OVER THE TOP, Menahem Golan green-lit his tongue-in-cheek adventure story set a distant nuked out future. According to Engelbach, after initially announcing the project as THUNDER WOMAN, Menahem decided that films with Woman in the title didnt do well. When the production was next advertised it promised MAD MAX-styled armored assault cruisers and was retitled THUNDER WARRIORS. By the time the film hit a small number of cinema screens, lead actress Maria Mayenzet had been replaced with Laurene Landon, the armored vehicles had vanished and the film had yet another title, AMERICA 3000 (1986).
