Kyoto University, one of the Japans top higher educational institutions, will change its policy of president appointment after the current president has completed his term. The university will open the position to both Japanese and non-Japanese candidates from all over the world. By doing this, the president may be free from the conventional power politics within the uniersity community and that is a central point of expectation in introducing this new system.
