LANARK Vs FC LIVINGSTON : Match Report Saturday 14th September With the kick off time delayed by 10mins due to a mix up with the pitch bookings, the kids had a good 40mins to warm up for the match. The match kicked off with Ciaran and Sammy playing up front, and Livingston pushed forward with the first attack of the match, but with not even a minute on the clock Ciaran took a real tough tackle and was bundled to the ground in agony, he limped off and Jack replaced him up front. Jack instantly got involved breaking free towards the Lanark goal but his shot was tipped wide by the keeper, Lanark had a breakaway cut out by Paige and after a couple of quick passes it was Livingston attacking again, Jack was inside the box about to release another shot but before he got the shot away he was brought down in the box, everyone looked towards the ref expecting him to point to the penalty spot, but to everyone’s surprise he waved play on ! Lanark broke forward and with Paige at the back herself she put in a good tackle but the ball broke to the other Lanark striker who fired a shot towards the Livingston goal which went just wide of the post. Livingston started passing the ball about Bradley played a nicely waited ball through to Jack and his shot was unlucky to go just over the bar, Lanark restarted but Livingston shut them down quick and won the ball back, Ali drove down the right wing and fired in a cross which Sammy met with a first time shot and fired his excellent strike into the net for the first goal of the game. Lanark restarted and pushed toward the Livingston goal but Paige cleaned up at the back and Livingston were on the attack again, this time it was Jack with a perfectly waited pass for Bradley to run on, he probably striked the ball too sweetly as when it left his foot it looked destined for the net but somehow sneaked over the bar as well. The game was pretty much end to end with still only a single goal to Livingston separating the two teams, when the ball broke to Bradley and he doubled Livingston lead by hitting the back of the net. Lanark attacked from the restart but Bradley won the ball back and Livingston pushed forward and were rewarded with a corner for their efforts, a mix up at the corner by Livingston and Lanark were quick on the break and quickly passed the ball up the park to grab a goal back. Livingston had another couple of chances but were unable to add to the goal tally, when Lanark had another break towards the Livingston goal with resulted in a goal for Lanark and the score line level again. It was end to end stuff again as one minute Ciaran was shooting at the Lanark goal, then Lanark were on the attack and Eric was making a save at the other end, with half time approaching and the score line still level, Ciaran burst forward and fired in a cross which Ali ran onto and fired the ball into the net to put Livingston back in front. The second half was under way and Jack was the first to have an attempt on goal and was unlucky not to add to the Livingston goal tally, Lanark then had an attempt saved by Eric. The second half was a bit of a Stop / Start affair as a result of a few hefty tackles, Ciaran who limped off at the start of the game was on the end of another rough tackle but this time he dusted himself down and was back up raring to go, the same determination was also shown today by both Bradley and Jack as both of them found themselves on the end of a few rough tackles which were deemed as fair by the ref. Ali was having another fantastic game for Livingston, pretty much as he did on Thursday against Boness and kept driving forward towards the Lanark goal, he left the Lanark defender dizzy and played a pass into Dion who had broke into the edge of the box and took a couple of steps before firing in an attempt which was deflected just past the Lanark post for a corner to Livingston. Lanark were on the attack again and had an attempt blocked by Paige, it was the a mad scuffle inside the Livingston box with 10 players in the box and after a bit of ping ball and Livingston unable to clear, the ball was trickled into the net for a goal to Lanark. Livingston had another couple of attempts, a shot by Ciaran was tipped just over the bar by the Lanark keeper, then it was Ali’s turn to have an attempt on the Lanark goal but the ball went just wide of the post. Bradley went down after another tackle, he tried to play on but was clearly playing through the pain barrier and although he was having another fantastic game he eventually had to limp of the field with a sore ankle. Lanark found themselves in the Livingston box again, and with a similar goal to the previous one, with a cluster of players in the box and Livingston making attempts to clear, Lanark managed to grab themselves another goal. Ali and Jack both had another attempt each at the Lanark goal and were both unlucky not to find the net. The ref blew the whistle and the game was over. IN BRIEF SUMMARY : The FC LIVINGSTON coaches could not be prouder of the kids today, they played at a high tempo from the start, shut Lanark down quickly at every opportunity and made some super passes from the back towards the Lanark goal all morning creating countless chances for Livingston, which was topped off by a few good goals as well. – A fantastic team performance ;-) Coaches player of the match award : Bradley and Ali NEXT WEEK : Thursday 20th Sept, instead of training we have just arranged a friendly match against a 2002 team, we will send a group text with details.
