LAST FLIGHT TO CANADA Resplendently clad in a bespoked suit; matched with a shining pair of shoes, with my countenance mirroring ecstasy. Whao! The great dandy, my thought revealed. All hope appeared accomplished; dream at the verge of reality and illusion seemed nonexistent. Pimpim! My dad’s driver is already at the gate horning to arrest my lost sensation. Without much ado, I pounced on the opened door, and found my lustful self in the owner’s corner of the flashy range rover. The voyage to the airport begins... At the well manned entrance of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, lied the fierce-looking security men inspecting every bit of passengers and their cars; here no sort of immunity is forth coming. After the rigorous search of our vehicle, the skinny security man beamed with a cool smile, “have a nice trip” he said. Though Kasali, my dad’s driver is a non graduate, but he possesses good communicating skills. In a rather humorous voice, he replied “thank you sir”. At an average accelerating range, we zoomed into the airport, and headed towards the expensive parking lots where mammoth of exotic cars were being packed by the airport guests. The serene environment of the airport drowned my past emotions; its cool ambience and the magnitude of the parked aircrafts, almost made my heart beat epileptic. “What a luxurious world we dwell in”, my spirit retorted in fantasy. Within a twinkle of an eye, we have found our self before the air ticketing officer for passport verification. She gazed at me in every passing second without uttering a single word. Here, I was already fidgeting with my thought parabolating round an unfound expression. After the long stand still, she handed me back my visa. I heaved a sigh of relief, and moved towards the reception. After the long awaited flight was ready to take off, kasali patted me at my back, and whispered to my ear, “journey boy, get ready for the flight”. Immediately, I reached for my soft luggage, walking towards the long queue of passengers. Kasali bade me well in a rather reticent voice, leaving me in the world of nostalgia. On getting to my turn, I summoned courage as a first timer, and mounted the vertical ladder into the aircraft. After everybody had got seated, a crack of flight attendants gave us a resounding orientation, and thereafter passed some relevant instructions to us. As if like a moving fly, the aeroplane shot into the thin air at a fuller acceleration. We were treated to the best of moment, when every passenger was served a tray of sandwich by a stunning air hostess who introduced herself as Miss Angela. I instantaneously got obsessed with the euphoria attached to a first experience, making me lost my appetite. However, I later did some justice on the sumptuous dish. Before I could envision what is forthcoming, my body mechanism was already demanding for a sleep. I laid my head on the sopha, and dived into the region of the oblivion. Gbangan! Gbangan! Gbangan! Was all I could hear, only for me to find myself on my mattress. I rubbed my face with my palms, and rushed towards the clock. It was already 10:00 am. Yeah! “My criminal law examinations”, I exclaimed. I quickly get myself dressed up without a bath, hopping to the university terminus. Though there existed a form of gridlock at every strategic location, but the mini bus driver was able to surmount the challenges. I landed at the University Park around 10: 25 am, and put up a non stopped marathon to the aesthetic law faculty. Before I could step my foot into the complex, it was already 10:30 am. I fainted!
