LATEST NEWS FROM SRI LANKA: Former Norwegian special peace envoy to Sri Lanka and Minister Erik Solheim is to reveal the messages sent to the LTTE by President Mahinda Rajapaksa through him during the period of the war. Solheim had said that he had conveyed to the LTTE leadership the messages which the government wanted conveyed. “(President) Mahinda asked me to convey numerous messages to (LTTE leader) Prabhakaran. He and everyone else know,” Solheim has reportedly said in a twitter message. Solheim is to also release a book next year on the Norwegian role as mediator in the Sri Lankan peace process. The book will reveal how Norway reached out to the LTTE with messages from President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
